1. What Is This Workshop About?

This workshop is built around Viking-inspired craft, old-world atmosphere, and objects with presence.

We create small-batch pieces inspired by Norse mythology, runes, firelit halls, carved wood, iron details, medieval fantasy, and objects that feel like they belong to a story.

Our goal is not to make ordinary products with a Viking graphic on them. We want each piece to feel useful, display-worthy, giftable, and connected to the old North in spirit.


2. Why Is The Workshop Called Obsidian Restraint?

The name Obsidian Restraint comes from two ideas: raw strength and controlled presence.

Obsidian is a dark volcanic glass formed through fire and pressure. It feels ancient, sharp, dark, and elemental — the kind of material that belongs to old stories, stone, iron, flame, and the North.

Restraint is about control. Not weakness, but strength that does not need to shout.

To us, the name means:

Strength shaped by fire, story, and discipline.

That idea fits the Viking-inspired objects we make — pieces with weight, atmosphere, and presence, but not cheap noise.


3. Are Your Products Historically Accurate Viking Replicas?

Our products are Viking-inspired, not museum-certified historical replicas.

We take inspiration from Viking culture, Norse mythology, rune symbolism, old-world craft, medieval fantasy, woodwork, metalwork, and Nordic visual traditions.

Some pieces are made for drinking.
Some are made for display.
Some are made to wear.
Some are made to gift or collect.

If a product is intended as a decorative or display piece only, we will state that clearly on the product page.


4. Why Does My Order Take 2–3 Weeks Before Shipping?

Because many of our products are handcrafted or prepared in small batches.

A Viking-inspired piece should not feel rushed. Depending on the item, your order may require production, finishing, inspection, and careful packing before it ships.

Please allow approximately 2–3 weeks before dispatch.

This is workshop preparation time, not carrier delivery time. Once your order ships, transit time begins.


5. How Does Shipping Work After My Piece Is Made?

Once your piece has been made, finished, inspected, and packed, it will be handed to our shipping partner for delivery.

You will receive a tracking email once your order has been dispatched. Please allow 24–72 hours for tracking information to update in the carrier’s system.

Delivery time begins after dispatch, not from the order date.


6. What Are Viking Mugs?

Viking Mugs are our Viking-inspired drinkware pieces.

They are made for beer nights, game rooms, fantasy tables, old-world gatherings, and ritual-like drinking moments.

These mugs are designed to feel more memorable than ordinary drinkware — something you can use, display, gift, and keep on the shelf like part of your own firelit hall.


7. Can I Actually Drink From The Wooden Mugs?

Yes, our handcrafted wooden mugs are designed as drinkware and display pieces.

However, they should be treated with care. They are not factory-made dishwasher mugs.

For best results:

  • Hand wash only
  • Do not place in a dishwasher
  • Do not microwave
  • Do not soak for long periods
  • Dry carefully after cleaning
  • Avoid extreme heat or prolonged direct sunlight

Think of it less like a disposable cup and more like a crafted object that deserves care.


8. Do You Offer Custom Engraving Or Personalization?

Yes. For selected products, we may offer custom engraving, personalization, or made-for-you details.

Depending on the product, this may include:

  • Names
  • Initials
  • Dates
  • Short phrases
  • Rune-inspired symbols
  • Gift messages
  • Personal dedication text
  • Custom placement options, where available

Personalization can make the piece feel more meaningful — whether it is made for yourself, a husband, father, brother, boyfriend, best friend, Viking fan, collector, or someone who deserves a gift with story and presence.

Please enter all personalization details carefully. We will use the text exactly as submitted unless we contact you for clarification.


9. What Can I Customize?

Customization options may vary by product.

For selected items, you may be able to customize:

  • A name or initials
  • A meaningful date
  • A short message
  • A personal phrase
  • A dedication for a gift
  • A rune-inspired mark or symbol
  • Placement of engraving, where available

If a product supports customization, the available options will be shown on the product page.

We may decline custom text or symbols that are offensive, hateful, unlawful, threatening, or not suitable for production.


10. Can I Request A Special Custom Design?

For certain items, we may be able to review special customization requests.

If you want a specific name, phrase, date, rune-inspired mark, symbol placement, or gift message, please contact us before ordering or include the available customization details on the product page.

Custom requests are reviewed case by case and may depend on:

  • Product type
  • Available space
  • Material limits
  • Production feasibility
  • Workshop capacity
  • Design complexity

11. Can I Change My Custom Text After Ordering?

Because personalized or engraved items may enter preparation shortly after an order is placed, changes may not be possible once production or engraving has started.

To avoid mistakes, please double-check all names, dates, spelling, capitalization, and symbols before submitting your order.


12. Are Personalized Items Returnable?

Personalized, engraved, or custom-made items are created specifically for your order.

Because of this, preference-based returns may be more limited for customized products.

However, if your personalized item arrives damaged, defective, incorrect, or significantly not as described, please contact us within 30 days of delivery.

We will review the issue and provide a fair resolution when appropriate.


13. What Are Viking Axes?

Viking Axes are Viking-inspired decorative and display pieces.

They are made for collectors, themed rooms, photography, display walls, costume styling, medieval fantasy atmosphere, and people who love the visual language of Viking ironwork.

Unless clearly stated otherwise on the product page, Viking-inspired axes and similar items are sold as decorative, display, collector, photography, costume, or ceremonial-style items only.

They are not intended for unsafe, harmful, unlawful, or weaponized use.


14. Are The Viking Axes Real Weapons?

No — unless a product page clearly says otherwise, our Viking-inspired axes are sold as decorative and display pieces.

They are meant for visual atmosphere, collection, themed spaces, photography, cosplay-style presentation, or ceremonial-style display.

Customers are responsible for following all local laws and for storing these items safely, especially away from children and unauthorized users.


15. What Is Viking Apparel?

Viking Apparel is our Viking-inspired clothing line.

It is made for people drawn to the old North — rune marks, rugged symbols, cold wind, medieval fantasy, and everyday clothing with more character than a plain printed shirt.

These pieces are designed to feel wearable, not costume-like.

Please follow the garment care label to help preserve fabric, print, embroidery, and color.


16. What Are Viking Jewelry And Accessories?

Viking Jewelry And Accessories include rune-inspired pendants, rings, bracelets, chains, symbolic pieces, and other small objects made to be worn, gifted, collected, or kept.

These pieces are inspired by runes, Norse symbols, old-world meaning, and objects that feel personal without needing to be loud.

Please note: We do not claim that runes or symbols provide magical, spiritual, or healing effects. They are used as cultural, symbolic, and design inspiration.


17. Will My Item Look Exactly Like The Photos?

Not exactly — and that is part of handmade work.

Because our products are made or prepared in small batches, small variations may occur in:

  • Wood grain
  • Color tone
  • Surface texture
  • Finish
  • Carving depth
  • Engraving depth
  • Print placement
  • Metal-style detailing
  • Handcrafted construction

These variations are not considered defects unless they affect the safe use, structure, or intended function of the item.

Each piece should feel like it has its own character.


18. Are The Runes Historically Meaningful?

Many of our rune-inspired designs are influenced by Norse and Viking-age visual traditions, but they are used primarily as symbolic and aesthetic design elements.

We respect the old symbols, but we do not claim that every design is a direct historical replica or that it carries supernatural power.

For us, runes represent story, memory, identity, old-world atmosphere, and a connection to the Viking-inspired world we build through our products.

Because our products are handcrafted in small batches, preparation may begin shortly after your order is placed. Once an order has entered production, preparation, packing, or shipping, cancellation eligibility may be limited.

Return and support requests are reviewed within 30 days of delivery. Damaged, defective, incorrect, or significantly not-as-described items are supported. Preference-based return requests are reviewed case by case.
